God has given us the greatest gift ever

Tonight’s thoughts are from Paul’s letter to Rome. Paul, before his encounter with Jesus was a Jewish Legalist to the max. He knew all the laws, saw to it that everyone worked hard to obey them, working to live up to man’s idea of righteousness. BUT then Paul met Jesus and his life changed 180 degrees. Where he once followed the “letter” of the law, he now conformed to the “heart” of the law. Where works once ruled his life, Paul understood that grace was the “better” way upon which to base one’s life of faith. Romans 11:6 says “And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.” Paul is clear, if we think that works (the stuff we do) will earn GOD’S favor, then we nullify (cancel out) grace. And if we nullify grace by working to “earn” GOD’S favor, we’ve missed the beauty of GOD’S Plan of Salvation. Imagine if you will, that you give someone a precious gift, then they turn around and try to pay you for it. What would you think? Reverse the situation and you receive the gift and then begin to work to pay for it. It’s kind of insulting to the giver of the gift, isn’t it? GOD has given us the greatest Gift ever, let us accept it, embrace it and live out courageously to honor Our GOD who loves us so very very much. Peace and Love, Mike
