On A New Path

James 1:24 “For he studied himself and went his way, and immediately [he] forgot what he was like.”

In the first chapter, James speaks multitudes about folks who say they have had an encounter with Jesus and then go away unchanged. The devil has gotten into their minds and has convinced them that there’s no need to change. A simple belief that I’m ok just as I am has probably condemned multitudes to eternal damnation. But that’s how O’l Scratch works, confusing us by making us believe lies. Jesus shows us our true nature, sin and dirt and warts. We decide if we want Him to clean us, change us and in the transformation we still remember what we were like (the old nature) before our encounter with Christ. And in the remembering, we recognize how far we’ve come and we don’t have the desire to return to the sins that once controlled us. The old ways disgust us just as the old man is the shame of our past. Because of Grace we’re not who we once were, Because of Grace we’re on a new path with a new destination. Praises be to our Heavenly Father, who loves us so much He doesn’t want us to stay who we were! Blessings!!! Mike
