Our Watchwords: “In God We Trust”

“In GOD We Trust” is the motto on our currency. And it’s a good motto to have. If GOD Himself was the security behind the dollar I would imagine we would all feel a lot more comfortable. But that’s not the case. In the Bible GOD says a lot about money, wealth and material riches. All those things in and of themselves are not an issue. If we come to trust in them, especially if we’ve made them by our efforts, we can become proud of our possessions and of our own abilities. We may think that if we need more _____ (fill in the blank), we’ll work harder and get it. When we forget that GOD gives us the mental abilities and the physical strength to work, we become proud and high minded thinking that we are the sole source of all our riches. Riches and wealth are neither good nor evil, they are neutral. Where we get into trouble is our attitude towards them and how we acquire them. Paul wrote to Timothy this verse…

1 Timothy 6:17 “Charge them that are rich in this present age, that they be not haughty, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy;”

GOD tells us to trust in HIM not the things He provides. In these uncertain times, “In GOD We Trust” should be our watchwords. Blessings, Mike
